Confidence & Self-Worth for Women in Business

Quiet self-doubt and second-guessing, and learn to
trust yourself again

You can be capable… and still not
feel confident

On paper, you’re doing well.

~ You’re experienced.
~ You care deeply about your work.
~ You show up for your clients and do a good job.

But inside, it doesn’t always feel that solid.

You second-guess your decisions. You wonder if you’re doing things “right.”
There's also a part of you that compares yourself to others who seem more certain, more confident, more together.

And sometimes, there’s a quiet question running underneath it all:

“Am I actually good enough for this?”

If that’s something you’ve felt, you’re not alone.

And it’s not a sign that you lack ability.
It’s usually a sign that your self-trust has been worn down over time.

Why self-doubt shows up - even when
you’re experienced

Most women assume confidence comes from experience or results.

So when doubt shows up, it can feel confusing.

But self-doubt doesn’t come from a lack of capability.

It often comes from:

  • Years of overthinking and second-guessing
  • Holding yourself to very high standards
  • Being used to getting things “right”
  • Caring deeply about how you show up and what others think
  • Being in a role where you’re constantly making decisions without clear answers

You look outside yourself for reassurance → You question your own judgement → You hesitate or overthink → your confidence drops further

And the cycle continues.

The difference between confidence
and self-trust

A lot of what’s described as a “confidence problem” is actually something else.

Confidence often comes and goes.

It can rise when things are going well… and disappear under pressure.

Self-trust is different.

Self-trust is the ability to:

  • Make decisions without constantly second-guessing
  • Back yourself, even when things feel uncertain
  • Stay steady, even when you don’t have all the answers
  • Recover more quickly when something doesn’t go to plan

When self-trust is strong, confidence tends to follow.

But when self-trust is low, no amount of mindset work or positive thinking fully sticks.

What it looks like when self-worth is quietly affecting your business

This doesn’t always show up in obvious ways.

It can be subtle.

It might look like:

  • Overthinking simple decisions
  • Delaying action because you’re unsure
  • Holding back from visibility or opportunities
  • Undercharging or over-delivering
  • Seeking reassurance before moving forward
  • Feeling like you need to prove yourself

From the outside, everything still looks fine.

But internally, it feels effortful.

And over time, it can become exhausting trying to keep up that level of pressure.

Rebuilding self-trust in a steady, grounded way

This isn’t about becoming louder, more confident, or more forceful.

And it’s not about “fixing” yourself.

It’s about changing the relationship you have with yourself.

That might involve:

  • Learning to recognise when you’re slipping into overthinking
  • Making smaller decisions more quickly, without over-analysis
  • Letting go of the need to get everything right
  • Responding to yourself with steadiness instead of criticism
  • Gradually trusting your own judgement again

Not in a big, dramatic way.

But in small, consistent shifts that rebuild trust over time.

Because when that trust comes back, something changes.

You feel clearer.
More settled.
Less pulled in different directions.

And decision-making becomes much simpler.

How I can help

I support women in business who are capable and committed—but internally feel uncertain, self-critical, or stuck in cycles of overthinking.

Together, we focus on:

  • Reducing second-guessing and mental noise
  • Rebuilding self-trust in a practical, grounded way
  • Strengthening your sense of self-worth (without force or pressure)
  • Helping you make decisions with more clarity and ease
  • Creating a more stable internal foundation for your business

This isn’t about turning you into someone else.

It’s about helping you feel more solid as yourself.

As a small business owner, I was very low in my confidence and self-belief although I got great results with my clients. I was afraid to "expose" myself at events to meet potential new clients. I felt unsure and frustrated about all that.

Now 6 months later I completely changed through Averil’s very supportive coaching sessions. I am much happier with my business and have more clients. I am happy to meet and talk to potential new clients at events or gatherings, I gained more clarity about what my service is about and who I want to work with.

I am much more confident in who I am and what my skills are. It is amazing to look back and notice this huge transformation in 6 months.

At a time in my life, where I need some guidance and support, Averil listened well and helped me to reframe what it was I was actually trying to convey.

I felt like I had someone on my side supporting me and helping me to see a way forward in a positive, do-able way.  Averil is a great bounce board, and so much more.

I was so happy to have the support that I actually cried with relief.  As I’ve had so many “No’s” coming my way for quite some-time.
